Ariel. Short dance choreography.
This time, I came up with a very unusual idea for a dance routine.
The story was that I was a corporate employee who’d been fired and had gone mad.
I didn’t want a new outfit for this routine. My old one from a disastrously unsuccessful modern dance group routine suited me just fine. I only swapped the white bodysuit under the blazer for a black top, and the white shorts for black training shorts. I braided my hair into a messy, loose plait.
And, to make the choreography more challenging, but also to make it look better and try something new, I decided I wouldn’t be allowed to move my arms. They could only wrap around me.
Choosing the setting was easy. Then again, it always is, thanks to my eye for aesthetics.
The initial idea always comes to me, and then Dad and I just refine it together.
This time, we decided I’d dance on a newly built road at sunset.
And I was going to dance barefoot!
I knew my knees would take a beating. But in the end, it was my right elbow that suffered most. For the final move, I had to lie down on the ground very quickly but gently at the same time. Just like that! And there I am, lying down.
A dance is usually filmed several times.
I got hurt on the third take (the last one). I was already tired from making sure I didn’t lift my arms away from my body, pointed my feet and lowered myself gently. So I brought my right elbow down on the ground just a little too hard.
I only noticed when I got home and took off my outfit.
I don’t know what you call that kind of injury. It’s under the skin, but it isn’t a bruise. Maybe a burst blood vessel.
And on top of that, I stank of asphalt and had scraped my knees a bit.
But I was proud.
I’ve always been, and always will be, willing to make sacrifices to do something brilliant but a little dangerous (which was my idea). Especially since, despite the minor injuries, I can’t really complain, because these ideas always work out. And I’ve never once ended up not feeling proud.
Here is choreography.
